Fibromyalgia Treatment
Fibromyalgia Treatment
Numerous publications are devoted to exploring fibromyalgia. On this subject matter, the therapists at Health and Performance International recommend two excellent articles in the September/October 2009 issue of Scientific American Mind: “When Pain Lingers” and “I Do Not Feel Your Pain.”Fibromyalgia is described as inflammation of the fibrous or connective tissue of the body. People suffering this condition report widespread muscle and fascia pain, multiple tender points, muscle tightness, sleep disturbance and fatigue. They also report rumination and difficulty quieting their mind. They are caught in an incessant search for a cure and a cause for their painful state.
This pain syndrome can occur after an emotional event or and a physical trauma. Over time, as people develop neuronal facilitation, they will become very sensitive to any moderate stimuli and their organic tissue will be deprived of oxygen. The cellular changes occurring with this condition and the pain mechanism are very complex.
